Located in the department of Madriz, the Cinco de Junio cooperative is our oldest partner in Nicaragua, a relationship that began in 2009. Over the years, the cooperative has weathered challenges–shifting economic and political conditions and the growing impacts of climate change. These pressures have forced the cooperative and its members to adjust their production practices, persevering to make the best coffee possible. This season’s lot delivers classic flavors of apple, dark chocolate, and sweet almond.

Brewed a pot for the afternoon and the body is rich without turning bitter, even after it sat a while. Knowing this coop has been around since 2009 makes each cup feel steadier, like there's history behind the roast.

First cup this morning and the depth of flavor caught me off guard—smooth, rich, no bitterness at all. Knowing it’s from their oldest Nicaraguan partnership since 2009 makes each sip feel a little more meaningful.

I’ve been buying from this cooperative since I first tasted it years ago, and even after all this time, the beans arrive consistently fresh and aromatic. It’s my go-to for slow weekend mornings, and knowing the partnership dates back to 2009 makes each cup feel a little more meaningful.
